Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev’s contribution to education was remembered in Mardakan


On November 1, at the secondary school No.123 named after H.Z.Taghiyev in Mardakan settlement of Khazar region, the leading scientist of the History Institute department “History of Azerbaijan” of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences named after A.A.Bakikhanov, PhD in History, Associate Professor Ramil Niftaliyev delivered a lecture on “Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev’s Charitable activity in the development of education”.

Associate Professor R.Niftaliyev marked that at the end of the XIX and at the beginning of the 20th century, H.Z.Taghiyev was one of the national philanthropists in Azerbaijan, who committed unprecedented services in the development of education, which is the basis of the development of various fields of national culture in Azerbaijan.

The lecturer noted that at the initiative of the first vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyev the mausoleum of a prominent religious figure Akhund Abuturab mausoleum, where great philanthropist and his daughter Sara khanum are buried, and whole Pirhasan sanctuary has been fundamentally reconstructed in recent years.

R.Niftaliyev informed that Haji Zeynalabdin Tagyivey, the founder of the first girls’ school in the Muslim East, would never be forgotten and his name is written in Azerbaijan history in golden letters.
